
Ioana Dobre
Obtained a Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Bucharest in 2013, followed by a Master’s in Animal Welfare and Food Safety Management. Since moving to the UK, Ioana has developed a strong career in Veterinary Public Health, with a particular focus on food safety, export certification, and animal welfare.
She has held several senior roles, including Head of Exports and Head of Licensing and Inspections, where she has demonstrated strong leadership and a strategic approach to the national delivery and development of official control services. With a forward-thinking mindset, she played a key role in shaping and implementing post-Brexit export frameworks, ensuring continued compliance with international sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) standards. Her work has supported the safe, efficient movement of goods and strengthened the UK’s global reputation in veterinary public health.
A passionate advocate for regulatory excellence, animal welfare, and international collaboration, Ioana received the 2023 Women in the Meat Industry Award for Industry Supplier, recognising her contributions to the sector.
She joined the VPHA Council to further champion the integration of animal health, food safety, and public health under the One Health approach, and is committed to supporting the next generation of professionals in the field.
