VPHA is pleased to invite you to a structured CPD study tour to Romania, taking place from 11 to 15 May 2026. The programme is designed for veterinary professionals working in public health, official controls, and food systems.

The tour combines academic sessions, technical inspections, and industry visits. Cultural visits are included where they support an understanding of local veterinary public health practice.

Key programme highlights:

  • Academic talks at the University of Veterinary Medicine on One Health, Romanian official controls, ASF, and the national rabies programme.
  • Visits to a red meat slaughterhouse and a turkey slaughterhouse.
  • Industry and system context visits, including a winery production site.
  • Professional networking and structured discussions throughout the week.

Dates and location:

  • Monday 11 May: Arrival in Bucharest.
  • Tuesday 12 May: University academic programme and professional dinner in Bucharest.
  • Wednesday 13 May: Travel to Brașov with technical and system context visits.
  • Thursday 14 May: Slaughterhouse visits and formal dinner in Bucharest.
  • Friday 15 May: Departure

Costs:

  • Estimated total cost per person: £350.
  • Flights, airport transfers, and travel insurance are at the attendee’s own cost.
  • Coach travel in Romania and meals on Tuesday and Wednesday are covered by VPHA.
  • Typical return flights from UK regional airports range from £90 to £130.

How to secure a place:

  • A refundable £50 deposit is required to hold a place.
  • Places are limited and allocated on a first come basis.
  • Registration is open now and closes on 31 January 2026.
